Date
of Meeting: Apr. 8, 2004
In attendance: Jason V, Eden S, Warren Mc, Kyle S, Dale G.
1st Item - League play: We will allow VRPA League
players to miss one League night for the 2003 League.
Although there are 8 Tournaments this year, it can be difficult to attend every
single one. To accommodate this, your total points throughout the year will be
divided by 7 to give you an average score. This allows you to miss ONE event
without any penalty.
IF by chance you did NOT miss any Tournaments, your LOWEST achieved score will
be dropped from your total points, and then your new score will be divided by
7. This gives someone who DOES attend all events have their worst result
omitted.
Basically the calculation is:
(Total points) - (Worst Score) / (# of tournaments that year - 1)
2nd Item - League scoring system: We will be using an
F1 scoring system for League play in 2003. The point distribution per
each game played in a league are as follows:
Top VRPAer: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 5 points
5th place: 4 points
6th place: 3 points
7th place: 2 points
8th place: 1 point
3rd Item - Tiebreakers in a Tournament: In previous
VRPA tournaments, if first place is tied at the end, we have allowed these
players to 'spilt the victory' of first place (basically each player would get
an equal amount of points for 1st/second place. We will now recommend
that if a tie occurs for 1st/2nd, a final game be played against the two
players. Whoever wins that game will take first place in the tournament,
and the loser will take second place. The game played will be one of the
tournament games by choice of the tournament director. But, if the host/tournament
director feels that the Tournament is going on too late in the evening, a
standard TIE will be allowed.
4th Item - What about guests, can they participate in the league?
No guests are allowed to participate in the VRPA League.
5th Item - Website updates: We have voted to upgrade
the website from FrontPage to Cold Fusion at a cost of approx $200.00.
Money will come from the VRPA account, and Jason/Kyle have
offered to help pay for some of this out of their own pocket and be reimbursed
at a later date in the year. This update will allow us to update and
maintain the website much easier and efficiently. Along with this
upgrade, we will be making a new look for the website along with content
updates such as a dedicated league page with rules, a new member section with
bio/mug shot and an improved gallery page. Jason V. will be creating some
mock-ups of the new website to show the VRPA committee at the next meeting.
6th Item - Newsletter: We will be starting a
newsletter for the VRPA. This will be distributed by e-mail every 3
months and will include high points of the past quarter year. Warren Mc
will be taking this on.
