Next
Tournament Meeting:
Next tournament meeting according to the
schedule posted by Kyle is on March 12, 2004. Venue has yet to be decided; a
request to host will be posted on the forum.
Website:
Decided we should have a separate link on the
VRPA homepage for meeting dates rather than in the main frame with the
charter.
League
format:
We decided to keep the league format
“simple”. After much discussion we decided on the following:
- The league will run from March to December 2004.
- League scoring is based upon the results of that evenings
tournament results. The more tournaments you enter, the better chance you
stand of doing well in the league.
- Entrance fee will be reduced to $5 to encourage more people to
participate.
- $1 of each person’s entrance fee will go to the League prize
fund. The accumulated prize money will be awarded to the person with the
most league points at the end of the year. There will be no prize sharing
for the league title. The remaining $4 goes towards the evenings
tournament prize which will be awarded as follows:
1st 50%
2nd 30%
3rd 20%
- The number of games available for tournament play will be
determined as follows by the Tournament Director and the host.
- If there are 2 – 8 entrants, then 3 different games will be
available for tournament play.
- If there are more than 8 entrants then only two games will be
used for tournament play in order to limit the time taken to complete.
- Each entrant will get to play two games on each designated
tournament game.
- Scoring format will remain unchanged:
1st 10 points
2nd 6 points
3rd 5 points
4th 4 points
4th 3 points
5th 2 points
6th 1 point
- Entrants will play in a strict order as entered on the score
sheet. The scorekeeper will be
responsible for ensuring there is not excessive time between games.
- Each player is responsible for handing in a witnessed score
sheet for his/her game, to the score-keeper. This will then be entered
into the score spreadsheet.
- Tournament games will be decided in advance and posted on the
forum to allow people a chance to familiarize themselves with the rules.
- Laptop computer will be provided by Christie.
- League standings will be updated and posted on the website.
- Casual drop-ins will have no set format of any kind, strictly
informal.
Eden suggested a tournament gift swap at the Christmas tournament. Each
person brings along a $10 gift. At the end of the tournament a “reverse gift
pick” takes place whereby the person who was placed last in the tournament gets
to choose from the gifts first. (The winner of the tournament already has a
cash prize)
Pinball
Show:
The VRPA super show is on hold as there is
no one person that has available time to drive this forward. We will look into
having a smaller event in the Fall 2004.
Newsletter:
Warren will take on responsibility of compiling a regular newsletter. It
will be a summary of what’s been going on in the forum for those that don’t
read it regularly and also include information regarding upcoming
tournaments/meetings. Would also like to do features on
members, their pinball memories, stories and collections. Will need submissions from members to be successful.
Other
Business:
Warren announced that he will be holding a pinball fundraiser for Cancer
Research in April (date TBD). This will likely take place on a Sunday
afternoon. Entrance by
donation (min $5). Games will be on free play. There will be door prizes
and also one game will be set up for competition play. Cost to enter the
competition will be $1 per game (which will be donated to Cancer Research); the
three highest scores of the day will be awarded a prize – no limit on the
number of games you can play.
More info will be posted on the forum when
details are confirmed.
