VRPA Committee Meeting: Sep. 13th, 2007

1)      VRPA ‘2X’mas Bash 2007:  We are going to try and have another Xmas Bash this year.  Because of all the setup involved for Dale’s Christmas event, it only makes sense to have one while we’re at it.  The loss of the Oak Harbour show also made it more desirable to try and put something on for Northwest Pinball enthusiasts to attend this fall.  Assuming we can get the clubhouse booked on the dates we desire, the weekend of the event should look like this:

·        Friday Night - League Night just like any Friday when we hold our events.  Start time at 7 pm just as usual.

·        Saturday - League FINALS will start at Noon, run about 2 hours.  Once finished, Qualifying will start on a bank of games until approx.10 pm.

·        Sunday – Last chance to Qualify from Noon until 4pm.  Semi-finals at 6pm, finals immediately after.

 

These times are all tentative right now, except for the Friday night.  VRPA Members are not required to participate in the Xmas Bash at all, since it does not affect the League in any way.

Come play if you wish… it’s totally optional.  ONLY the 4 League Finalists will need to be in attendance on Saturday at Noon.

There will NOT be enough time to hold the League Finals on Friday… they would finish around 1 or 2 am!!

Entry to the event will be $5 for one day or $8 for both.  Tournament Entries are 3 games for $5.  We may have a BIG raffle prize as well.

Once the date is confirmed, Eden will start recruiting volunteers, and contact Josh Sharpe at to get the event listed on the IFPA and WPPR sites. Kyle will get something posted on WPC and hopefully get a dialogue going with them to get some real interest in our US friends to come up and participate! We’ll get Jason to make the Home Page link on the VRPA site, and Dale can get the ‘2X’mas Bash Webpage created, with maps, location, and other details within. This will all be finalized by the next Committee Meeting.

 

2)      VRPA Home Page Update:  We need Jason to put a link on our Home Page describing how to become a member.  The page actually comes up if you find the link within the Forums page, but we should have one on the Home Page as well so people can find it easier.  It should be right after the vrpa@shaw.ca link in our ‘About VRPA’.

 

3)      New Images Section of Website:  We need to get this started.  Hopefully Jason does have the time now, and we will soon have a NEW pictures section that each and every VRPA Member can be a part of.

 

4)      Members Info:  Too many Members have almost zero information.  There are going to be more Mandatory Fields in each person’s profile.  These will include email and phone number, as well as several others.  Also, some Web Members have said that their Passwords are not being accepted when they register.  Jason will investigate whether the Auto Passwords are being sent / recognized correctly or not.

 

5)      VRPA Shirts:  Billy Bones has STILL not returned our screens despite several requests to do so.  He is now the Black Sheep of the VRPA.  In the mean time, Eden will contact a local friend who has a shirt screening business to get some pricing for our next run.  In the mean time, we will start looking for the files of the shirt logos in case we have to remake the screens.

 

6)      Registering the VRPA as a Society:  Kyle has just been too busy lately with the extra work at EA and the purchase of his house, so this is on hold for now.  It is still a priority and we are eager to get it done as soon as we possibly can!!

 

7)      Pinball Event for 2008:  With everything else going on, it has been pushed back again.  It is likely to occur in late 2008 or early 2009 at this time.  Very little progress has been made so far, and it really would be better to work on this AFTER the VRPA has become registered as a Society.
