VRPA Committee Meeting: Sep. 9th, 2006
Attendance:
Kyle
Dale
Angelo
Meeting start: 7:50 pm
Location:
1) T-shirts: Kyle will be getting a ball-park
price for 50 shirts to be printed for the VRPA.
He will hopefully have a price ready to present to VRPA members within
the next couple of weeks. At that time,
people can place their orders for specific colors and sizes, and then Kyle will
go ahead and actually place the order.
2)
Website:
It
was decided that the Documents section of the website should have links to
folders of pictures instead of one picture per link as is currently the
case. We will be looking into the best
possible option to include the ability for ANY VRPA member to have a folder they
can access to post their own pinball images on the VRPA website. This way more people are likely to post
images when they have access to their own space instead of emailing pics to get posted by an administrator. It was also suggested that we look into
creating a larger “Games in Collection” list for the Members profiles, and
possibly add a “Games Wanted” or “Wish List” as part of the information of each
member’s profile. Dale also wanted to
look into having a larger font for the top links bar of the website.
3)
Membership
in 2007: At the current time, pushing for
growth in members is not an issue. New
members are always welcome, but with the current number of members who attend
events, we feel we are just able to handle current capacity as it is. It will be required for all VRPA Members to
have their Profiles filled out with AT LEAST their Name, Phone #, Email Address
and Home Address… this is ultimately for administrative purpose, but it is also
VERY helpful when trying to contact members or coordinate events. Although the information is TOTALLY private
within the VRPA, anyone who is a member and still objects may privately leave
that information with Dale G as he is correspondence for the group… another
website option we are looking into may be able to solve this problem as
well. It may be possible to create a
checkbox that a Member could use on their Profile page to keep all ‘sensitive’ personal
information hidden on the site except for viewing by Committee members.
4)
Grant’s
Tournament, Sept.22: There should be 4 games available for Grant’s Tournament. Angelo and Kyle should be able to bring
games, but if necessary, Dale or Eden will try to get a game there. Tournament will start at 7pm - 2 games
Players’ Choice fro qualifying, top 8 players will be seeded and move on to
Final Rounds.
5) Hosting:
6) League 2007: The league points will certainly be tightened up for next year, and points will be awarded as follows: Everyone who plays in the tournament will receive the points they actually EARN when playing qualifying rounds (min 5 pts, max 35 pts)… those players which move onto semi-final rounds will also have that round’s points earned added to their qualifying points (min 0 pts, max 12 pts) and the 4 players which reach the final rounds in the tournament will have that round’s points added to their previous points as well. First to third place will also receive bonus points of 15, 10, and 5 respectively. By tournament’s end, the average player who does NOT qualify for the top 8 will likely have 15 to 20 points and the top player will likely have about 50 to 60 points. This will certainly keep things closer between players and will in fact make each and every game a person plays VERY valuable. Having closely ranked players grouped together should also keep things far more fair yet appropriately challenging for all skill levels.
7) AGM: The AGM will be pushed to March or April of 2007, and will be held on a night separate from an actual Tournament date.
8) Dale G’s Xmas Tournament Bash: Several details were discussed regarding the Christmas event.
1. This tournament will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and IFPA will be contacted with the Tournament date as soon as it is set.
2. VRPA League points will still be awarded to members based on their final placing against other VRPAers.
3. This will be a 2 day event (Saturday and Sunday) with qualifications on both days, and final rounds for the top 8 players will start at 3 pm on the Sunday.
4. Entries will be $4 each or 3 for $10… each entry will consist of a set of 3 games played consecutively. This will create a ‘scorecard’.
5. There will be a bank of 5 machines. A player will pick 3 machines to play, and create a scorecard out of the 3 scores achieved on those games. Scores on each game will be ranked against all other players’ scores to award a points total for that scorecard.
6. 1st to 4th place in the Tournament will share percentage of the prize pool 50 / 25 / 15 / 10.
7.
A program will have to be
created or acquired for this event, and a trophy MAY also be awarded to 1st
place.
Meeting adjourned around 9:00 pm
